Last Day at BSC!

Friday is my last day but figured I would get this sent out sooner rather than later.

It’s gone fast - 18 years, 8 months, 12 days (from 13 Sep 1999 to 25 May 2018)!

I just want to thank everyone I had the chance to meet and work with over the course of my career here at BSC.    I learned so much from all of you.  I am grateful for the opportunities provided me. To the TSC team over in India – thanks for opening your culture to me. Deb and I hope to visit there some day.  Patrick and Mikey, we fell in love with Ireland back in 1980.  We found it to be the home to the friendliest nation of people we have come to know and why we continue to go back.

To this day, I still enjoy coming to work and it’s because of the what we do, what I do and who I work with.  I have been fortunate to work with a couple of individuals that are leaders first and managers second.  Trust me, it is easy to not realize how quick time will pass when you enjoy your work and the people you work with.  Being in IT support, I have come to enjoy not knowing of what was waiting for me when I walked in the door.  It keeps life exciting, challenging, and fun.

Deb and I will be hitting the road with our camper (aka The Escape Pod) later this summer.  We have lots of time, but want to see more of Minnesota, Montana, the Dakotas for now.    Also, plan to continue cycling (there just happens to be another ride in Ireland September 2019).   I’ll still be working with the Scouts and hope to do reading buddies next year as well.  Golfing and the TGIF bowling are still on the radar so I will still see some “the usual suspects” around now and then.  Till then, if you are ever around Coon Rapids, give a shout out and will try to catch up with a home brew or two.

Again, thanks everyone.  It’s been a great adventure but more awaits us.  Feel free to forward this along to anyone that you think I may have missed.

I’ll part with some simple advice given to me by my father regarding work:
  1. Always get gas on the way to work as work will always be there.
  2. Never get a speeding ticket going to work – getting one coming home is ok and explainable!
  3. When the job is no longer fun, enjoyable or becomes drudgery, it’s time to find something else.
  4. The best time to look for a job is while you have one.
  5. Know when it’s time to leave the party.
I’ve done pretty good by that advice over my 43+ years in IT support sector (never got a speeding ticket going to work and never ran out of gas on the way home).  So till the next adventure calls, you all take care!

Thanks again for everything!

It’s been a great ride!
